Prepare to immerse yourself in a world of enchantment and everlasting elegance as we unveil the Bridal Bible of Gemma Hynes, who got married in Spain. Gemma kindly shared with us her invaluable wisdom, guiding brides-to-be, especially those getting married abroad.
1.Where did you buy your dress and how long before the wedding?
I bought my dress in Vintage Pearl Bridal in Galway 11 months before the wedding. It was a Katya London dress and I absolutely adored wearing it. Olga in Vintage Pearl was just the dream to deal with. Each visit to her was just so special.
2.Who did your hair and makeup?
Liza Mayne did both my hair and make up. She was amazing to have around on the morning of the wedding and really put me at ease. I was so happy with both my hair and make up on the day.
3. Where did you get your jewellery & accessories?
I bought the beautiful crown for my hair from Azure Jewellery. The girls were so helpful and even posted up a few pieces for me to try before making a decision.
4. Where did you get married and did you look at many venues before deciding on that particular one?
We got married in Marbella in Spain. Our ceremony took place in the church in the old town, Marbella. Our reception took place in Finca Villa Palma, an outdoor villa with beautiful gardens. It is set high in the mountains overlooking the sea.
5. How many bridesmaids did you have and where did you buy their dresses and accessories?
I had 4 beautiful bridesmaids – my 2 sisters and 2 friends. I got their dresses in Bhldn in America. I got their accessories in Ór Jewellery in Galway.
6.What did you find the most challenging aspect of organising your wedding?
The guestlist was probably the most difficult part. Our wedding planner Lisa Franco (Bella Weddings in Spain) made the rest of the planning very easy.
7.Brides always mention how difficult it is to find shoes; where did you get yours?
I got my shoes in Vintage Pearl Bridal in Galway! They were Rachel Simpson shoes. They were super comfy and matched my dress perfectly.
8.Were there any individual touches that you added and that you particularly loved about your day?
My favourite part of the planning was definitely adding personal touches and decor to the day from the flowers to the centrepieces and table plan.
My nephew Jacob also took photos with a Polaroid camera during dinner and asked people to stick it into our guestbook and write a little message. I’m so glad we have them to look back on!
Enjoy the build up as much as you can as it goes by so quickly! Soak up all the love and kindness from people.
