For March’s Bridal Bible we spoke to the lovely Ruth Nodwell. Ruth got married in Ballinacurra House and wore our Esme drape, Azure bracelet and earrings! Ruth’s daughter and bridesmaids also wore Azure headpieces. Check out the stunning photos and advice Ruth gives on planning the big day! We’ve also translated this month blog to Irish to support Seachtain na Gaeilge 2018!
Chun Seachtain na Gaeilge 2018 a cheiliúradh, labhair muid le Ruth Nodwell a fuair pósta le gairid i Ballinacurra House. Rinne muid píosa gruaige lámhdhéanta d’arbh ainm an Esme Drape dí le haghaidh an lá mór, chomh maith le fáinní cluaise agus bráisléad. Fuair Ruth píosa gruaige d’iníon agus fáinní cluaise álainn dá cailíní coimhdeachta. Bhí Ruth chomh deas le déaleáil leis agus bhreathnaigh sí chomh fíorálainn ar lá a bainise.
Agallamh iontach d’aon bhrídeach atá ag eagrú a lá mór féin. xx
1.Cén áit ar cheannaigh tú do ghúna?
Rice N’Rosees, búitíc iontach i sráidbhaile Dúbhglas. Mol mo chara Rice N’Roses
dhom tar éis cúpla réamhléiriú gléasta agus bhí a fhios agam láithreach nuair a
thriál mé an chéad gúna orm, go mbeadh mé ag pósadh san gúna sin.
1.Where did you buy the dress?
Rice N’Roses, a fabulous boutique in Douglas village. After a number of dress rehearsals, Rice N’Roses was recommended by a friend and the very first dress I tried in there, I immediately knew that this was the wedding dress I was going to walk up the aisle in.
2. Cé a rinne do chuid gruaige?
The Style House i dTeamhair, áit a théim go minic agus bhí a fhios agam go
mbeadh mé in ain braith orthú le haghaigh an lá chomh speisialta sin. Thosaigh
Florina agus Louise fíor-luath, ag teacht go dtí an teach ag a hocht a chloig ar
maidin agus in ainneoin an scaoll faoi séisear stíl gruaige difriúil a dhéanamh,
bhí siad thar cionn mar is gnáth.
2.Who did your hair?
The Style house in Tower, a place I frequently use and knew I could depend on for such a special day. An early start for Florina and Louise saw them call to the house at 8am and despite the panic of having to do 6 different hair do’s, they delivered as always.
3. Cé a rinne do chuid smidiú?
Ahh brón orm….smidiú…ní cheapainn é!!! Melanie, arís ó The Style House i
dTeamhair, a bhí ann chun mé féin agus an pháirtí bainise a dhéanamh gleoite ar
feádh an lae.
3.Who did your make up?
Ahh sorry….make up…I don’t think so!!! I wish, Melanie, again from the Style House in Tower was on hand to make me and the wedding party look the part for the day.
4. Cén áit ina bhfuair tú do chuid seodra?
Is iad na rudaí beaga a dhéanann an lae, agus is iad na seodra a dhéanann an
bhrídéog chomh galánta ar a lá móir. Ní raibh sé difriúil dhomsa mar do phioc an
bhfoireann i Azure amach na seodra lámhdhéanta dhomsa a chuaigh leis an ghúna.
Fuair mé píosa gruaige fíor-álainn chomh maith le fáinní cluaise agus bráisléad
aoibhinn a chríochnaigh m’fheisteas.
4. Where did you buy your accessories?
It’s the small things that make a day complete, much like it’s the accessories that make a bride look good on her big day. For me, it was no different and this was all thanks to the staff in Azure and the exciting range of accessories they hand picked to compliment my dress on the day. A stunning head piece along with earrings and a beautiful bracelet completed my outfit.
5. Cén áit ina bhfuair tú pósta agus cé méid áiteanna eile a bhreathnaigh tú air roimh d’intinn a dhéanamh suas?
Ar an dea-uair domsa, chuaigh muid go dtí Ballinacurra House i gCionn tSáile ar
dtús agus bhí a fhios againn nuair a chonaic muid an teach agus nuair a bhí sé ar fáil ar an dáta a bhí uainn, go raibh an cuardach thart. Bhí gach rud ann a bhí uainn, an áit is fearr le pósadh agus nuair a tháinig an lá mór, bhí sé fós níos fearr ná mar a cheap muid…ionad iontach.
5. Where did you get married?
Luckily for us, one of the first places we visited was Ballinacurra House in Kinsale and once we had one look at the house and a date was available, then our search was complete. It had everything that we wanted, the perfect venue to get married and when the day arrived, it still completely surpassed all our expectations…a super venue.
6. Cé méid cailíní coimhdeachta a bhí agat agus cá bhfuair tú a cuid gúnaí agus seodra?
Triúr de mo chuid cairde is fearr agus deirfiúracha Sarah agus Kate chomh maith le Jacinta, cara iontach eile, an triúr a bhí ann dom i gcónaí i mo shaoil. Cheannaigh muid na gúnaí i Debenhams ar Sráid Naomh Pádraig i gCathair Chorcaí lena seodra ó Azure arís.
6. How many bridemaids did you have and where did you buy their dresses and accessories?
3 of the best, best friends and sisters Sarah and Kate as well as Jacinta, another lifelong friend and 3 people who have always been there for me in life. The dresses were got in Debenhams on Patrick’s Street in Cork City with the accessories again from Azure.
7. Céard a cheap tú gurbh í an rud is deacra faoin lá bainise a eargrú?
Dhúinne, bhí sé deacair gach rud a dhéanamh san am chomh gearr sin. Fuair muid geálta i mí Samhain agus phós muid i mí Meitheamh. Bhí sé deacair an plean suíochán a dhéanamh chomh maith agus chuir sé an bhrídeog agus a céile faoi bhrú….go dtí go n’aontaigh sé liom ár ndóigh!!!
7. What did you find the most challenging aspect of organising your wedding?
For us, it was just trying to fit everything into such a short time frame. Engaged in November, we were married just seven months later on the 16th June. This was the major challenge although the seating plan caused plenty of stress between the Bride and Groom as well….until he agreed with me of course!!!
8) Deireann brídeach i gcónaí cé chomh deacair is atá sé brógaí a fháil, cá bhfuair tú do chuid brógaí?
B’fhéidir go raibh an t-ádh liomsa mar sin. Bhí brógaí galánta ach compordach uaim a mbeadh mé in ain caitheadh arís. Fuair mé na sála arda foirfe ó LK Bennett i Brown Thomas, Corcaigh, gach rud a bhí uaim agus do chaith mé arís iad.
8. A lot of brides find it difficult to find shoes, where did you find yours?
Maybe I was one of the lucky ones so. I wanted something elegant but comfortable as well as something I would wear again. I found the perfect heels from LK Bennett in Brown Thomas, Cork that met with everything I was looking for and I actually did wear them again.
9. An raibh aon rud amháin go háirithe a rinne sibh le haghaidh an bainis ar bhain sibh an-taithneamh as?
Chuir m’fhear céile suas le go leoir agus cosúil le gach bhrídeog, bhí gach rud uaim le haghaigh an lá mór, mar sin bhí thart ar céad rudaí beaga deasa curtha isteach sna seachtainí roimh an mbainis. Domsa, an rud amháin go háirithe a bhí antábhachtach ná go raibh m’iníon in aice liom ag caitheadh píosa gruaige ó Azure (Bhí sí chomh i ngrá leis go mbeidh sí á chaitheadh le haghaigh a Chéad Comaoineach i mí Bealtaine).
9. Any individual touches that made your day special
My husband puts up with a lot and like any Bride, I wanted everything on the day so there must have been about 100 different little touches added in the final few weeks. For me though, the key extra touch that really added to the day for me was having my 8 year daughter wearing a matching head piece, again from Azure (She loved it so much, it’s making a reappearance at her communion this May)
10. Cén comhairle a dtabharfá do bhrídeach eile atá ag eagrú bainis?
Is ceann éasca é seo. Bain taitneamh as an lae. Nuair a thagann maidin an bainis,
níl aon rud eile ar féidir leat a dhéanamh. Níl aon rud eile le déanamh seachas siúil
suas an phasáiste agus gealltanas a thabhairt don duine eile don chuid eile de do
shaol. Bain sult as an lae agus stop ag smaoineamh ar an pleanáil, an aimsir agus
gach rud eile. Bí ann.
10. What advice would you give for upcoming brides who are planning their wedding?
That’s an easy one. Just enjoy the day. Once the morning of the wedding comes, there is no more you can do, the prep work is all done and it’s all because you want to walk up the aisle and make a life commitment to another person for the rest of your life. Enjoy the day and forget the planning, weather and everything else. Live it.
